The Flow Series consists of three videos, Earth, Water and Fire. The series demonstrates the Vinyasa Flow technique of Hatha yoga. Each session is a full workout complete with instruction on ujjayi breath technique; a significant part of yogic practice. The tapes may be used in order for the beginner or randomly to compliment an existing daily yoga practice.

The first in the series, Earth, focuses on gentle, restorative postures. Described as a Level 1 practice, Earth flows at a relaxed pace and offers detailed explanation every step of the way. Tracey Rich and Ganga White demonstrate different versions of each pose, while narration clearly explains correct body alignment and breathing. Earth offers several variations of the Sun Salutation, classic poses and quieting inversions. This session is beneficial to the beginner, providing a useful foundation of basic Hatha yoga technique. The pace is realistic for novices, allowing time for correct and comfortable positioning of the body. Further, the demonstrations of pose variations allows the viewer to tailor the practice to her/his body's needs.

The Water session, described as a Level 2 practice, builds upon the basics in Earth. Using the same organization, ujjayi breathing review and Sun Salutation warm-up followed by poses, Water focuses on fluidity of movement, and power. This session includes a range of standing, seated and inversion poses. Water is described as appropriate for any level student, but the practice is more demanding than Earth. Beginners may do best starting with the first tape.

The third of the series, Fire, is the most dynamic. It is geared towards the more experienced, and described as a Level 3 practice. Fire offers a more aerobic session. Using the organization of its predecessors, Fire includes breathing, and Sun Salutation warm-up stretching. It goes on, however, to include the seven major standing poses as well as backbends, forward bends, twists and inversions. Fire clearly is the most challenging of the series.

While Earth, Water and Fire are available individually, The Flow Series is an amazing collection of practices for any level. Beginners may use the series as a progressive introduction to yoga. More experienced practitioners may pick and choose elements to compliment an existing practice. The Flow Series is a well organized, well presented collection of yoga sessions. For anyone curious about yoga, or looking to expand their practice, it is an excellent resource.
