If you're ready to take your level of fitness to the next stage, you're ready for Cathe Friedrich. Known for being the queen of advanced workouts for home exercisers, Cathe will definitely challenge you! This 60-minute workout consists of 10 high intensity intervals, each 3-4 minutes in length, taking you through a medium intensity aerobic phase, a high intensity anaerobic phase and a short recovery phase. Interval training has been proven to burn more calories and this is a great tape to help you break through fitness and weight loss plateaus. Unlike some of Cathe's other workouts, the choreography in this tape is fairly simple and therefore easy to learn. The intervals provide plenty of variety though, so the workout never has time to get boring. This is a difficult, yet fun workout to do and knowing that the intervals are of short duration can help motivate lazy exercisers to push "just a little bit more" and finish the cycles. If you read reviews of Cathe's tapes in other magazines, they can sometimes seem a bit intimidating, as they often stress that the workouts are designed for ADVANCED exercisers. While this is true, I also find that those at the high end of the intermediate scale will appreciate the new challenge Cathe's workouts present. I know I personally had been searching for something like this for some time. Cathe almost always shows lower intensity versions of the exercises so that even if you aren't quite advanced enough, you can still do the workout (although if you are a beginner, give this a pass for now and work up to it). Personally, I don't know anybody as fit as Cathe Friedrich, and even she says she doesn't expect you to do this entire tape at high intensity. But, if you're getting a little too comfortable with intermediate level workouts, try this or one of Cathe's other terrific workouts to push yourself to the next level. If you're advanced, this is the closest thing I've seen to an advanced step workout like you'd get by going to a fitness club. You can order Cathe's videos from her website at www.cathe.com. |
