An essential ingredient in so many recipes, no kitchen should be without
olive oil. There are many grades and price ranges of olive oil. For cooking,
look for a decent quality oil that has "extra virgin" on the label. You
might want to invest in a very high grade expensive olive oil for special
occasions (to be used straight on bread or in dressings). There are people
who are connoisseurs of Olive Oil just like there are wine connoisseurs,
and there is a big difference between an inferior product and a good one.
If you want to splurge, BR Cohn (who also makes some great wines) has
some great domestically produced olive oils.
