A thick, dark sweet syrup that is a by-product of refining sugar. Molasses
can be used to add flavor and moisture to baked goods as well as other
recipes. Mild molasses is most often used in cooking. You may also find
what is known as "Blackstrap" molasses, which is extremely strong (usually
too much so for general purposes).
