Take off leaves and wash. Place upside down whole on a paper towel on a plate. Put into the refrigerator. They will last for several days like this.

To keep my brown sugar soft, I purchase brown sugar in the plastic bags (not the boxed version). After opening, I place the brown sugar in the orginal plastic bag inside an appropriately sized ziploc bag. Easy to store and always stays soft.

I keep a large supply of dried vegetables on hand. It saves time shopping, and also saves money as I cook for one, and otherwise have to throw away a lot of spoiled veggies.

I buy ground beef in bulk and prepare for several meals in advance. I cook 5 or 6 lbs at a time and drain. I add taco seasoning, sloppy joe sauce, and leave some plain and freeze in vacuum sealer bags. I also add seasoning to the ground beef before I shape into patties and freeze. Saves lots of time and mess camping and on nights when time is short.

Fed up with scraping mold from stored cheese, I now store cheese in a plastic tub filled with olive oil. Voila! No more mold.

I Used to fight the hardened brown suger problem. I now store my brown sugar in large jam or pickle jars that have been washed through the dishwasher (for sterilization). Soft sugar everytime!

Before storing fine china, place a coffee filter between each plate, bowl etc. Napkins also work well.

If you hate to throw out cookies just because they have gotten a little hard, place them in a ziplock sandwich bag with a piece of bread overnight. The next day you'll have fresh, soft cookies again.

When using only part of a bell pepper, cut it from the bottom or the sides, leave the seeds attached because they hold the moisture. You can put the rest in a resealable plastic bag and use it up to 4 days later. It won't be mushy.
