If honey becomes crystallized, it is still good, just warm it up in a mocrowave or put in a pan of boiling water for a few minutes. A quick stir and it will be as good as new.

Two ways to keep weevils away from grain, nuts and other seeds -- either store them in the refrigerator or pour in a container and add a pinch of salt and shuffle or shake the container so the salt can evenly distribute itself.

Peel, chop, mince or grate fresh ginger, put into a jar and fill jar with either Vodka or Gin before refrigerating. I prefer the Vodka, as it has no strong aroma to interfere with the scent of the ginger. The liquor doesn't have to be fancy, but whichever you use, will keep the ginger perfectly fresh indefinitely. I've kept a jar of ginger in the refrigerator for years and just refill it whenever the amount of ginger begins to get low. Adding a bit of the liquor to your recipe can be tasty too.

To keep salt free flowing, Pop a couple of grains of rice into salt shaker before filling with salt. These will absorb any moisture and keep salt dry in the steamiest kitchen.

Age your beef by placing in non-reactive container. Leave uncovered in ref. for 6-8 days. After aging bring to room temp and season. Rub oil over all surface. This will seal the meat. Bake at 225-250 until done. This will tenderize the toughest meat.

Store whole fresh ginger root in a plastic bag in the freezer. Grate as much as you need for a recipe. It grates just fine when frozen!

Take a fresh head of lettuce, hit the bottom to remove the core (do not use a knife as this will make the lettuce turn brown), place the whole head in a plastic zip type bag with a piece of paper towel. Store in vegetable bin in refrigerator. You'll find the lettuce will last and last. I've had some that remained crisp and clean for over five weeks!
