If you have a dutch oven or camp oven style cast iron pot all you need for a great desert is a tin of mixed fruit,a packet of cake mix and a can of seven up. Line the pot with foil, empty the can of fruit in the bottom, stir in the can of seven up (fizzy lamonade)with the dry cake mix and pour evenly over fruit.
Cook this over a fire with coals on the lid til cake mix is cooked, invert and peel of foil.
Guaranteed to delight all ages. The Seven up eliminates the need for using egg and milk to make the cake rise and it is all something that can be kept in the camping pantry for when the need arises.

To make nice round hamburgers, place a round meat ball between wax paper and mash with a clear dinner plate. You can watch your progress and make hamberger size to your specifications. This also makes patties ready to freeze and easy to seperate when ready to thaw.

Recycle those empty bags from inside boxed wine. The rubber spiggots come off for re-filling with all sorts of beverages and they take up less space in fridges and coolers than rigid containers. When filled with water, they can be frozen and used in the cooler. As the bag thaws, you have fresh drinking water.

When tent camping (or camper) sometimes the wind can take the paper plates and napkins with it off the table. I put the plates in a large 2 gallon zip lock bag and the naplins in a smaller one and even the plastic forks/knives/spoon in their own bag. This way they stay together on the table, are easy to get out and att he end of the meal I just slip the smaller bags into the large one for easy cleanup and the nite dampness doesn't ruin the plates or napkins. A cleaned coffe can is great for storing the forks/knives/spoons too if you have the room. They can be set out and everyone can help themselves and then just pop the lid on to store.

Want to have eggs for breakfast but you are backpacking? Simply take a baby milk bottle that has the plastic lid inner cap: break your eggs and put them in a cup, pour them into the baby bottle, and fill the bottle all way up with water. When you are ready to make your eggs, pour out the water, and pour out your eggs. Simply fill back up with water and seal them. They will keep for three days or more this way and don't take much room in the back pack. You can cook them in a halved orange peel with no utensils right in the fire. Most Scoutmasters know this trick and will help you.

CHEAP SMALL QUICKER SMOKER bring a small grill with a lid shovel hot coals into the grill from fire no need to start another fire add some wood soon, it will begin to smoke then catch fire once on fire get it good and hot shut lid for about 30 seconds open instant smoke (watch your eyes) brush off grill throw on food. Now you can work the lid just as its about to catch fire shut basically to smother it only give it a minute or two or the fire will smother out all depending on how hot the grill is open, flip, fire, shut and thats a cheap smaller smoker.

Brown a batch of ground meat and put in quart size freezer bags and freeze. They help keep your other food cold and then add spagetti sauce one day, chili, tacos, sloppy joes, or hot dog sauce. It saves you the messy step of browning your meat.

For a quick meal while camping, brown ground beef, add sloppy Joe sauce, and freeze it in a freezer bag. Throw it in the cooler (it will help keep other food cool too) and then warm it up in a pan over a fire or on a grill. Can also be done with taco meet; just bring along your shells or tortillas and other desired toppings.

If you have room, store unscented candles (or well wrapped and sealed scented ones) in the cooler or RV refrigerator to keep the hot sun from melting them.
