Author Notes
This recipe goes together in mere minutes (seconds?) from pantry ingredients. It makes a chunky Chicago style pizza topping - sauce is a stretch. We love this, especially when fresh tomatoes aren't in season. Roll out your pizza dough, brush with garlic oil, top with cheese then this "sauce" and other favorite ingredients. While its reminiscent of a sauce served on a
thick crust Chicago style pizza, it works well on all kinds of pizza crusts.
Ingredients
1 can, 28 ounces, diced
tomatoes, well
drained1 tablespoon
garlic powder1 teaspoon dried
oregano1 teaspoon dried
basil1/4 teaspoon
crushed red pepper2 teaspoons balsamic or
red wine vinegar (optional)
salt to taste (I usually don't use any as there plenty in the rest of the pizza)
Instructions
Makes About 2 CupsMix all ingredients together. For best result, put down a layer of cheese on pizza, then top with these seasoned
