Review: I couldn't speak highly enough about Jennifer McCann's first book The Vegan Lunchbox, but she has outdone herself with this volume, which presents an international array of brown bag ready vegan recipes.  The repertoire has expanded in a direction that will certainly appeal to adults and adventurous kids.

Anyone, kid or adult, vegetarian or omnivore, who totes their lunch along to work or school (or who wants to) can benefit from Jennifer McCann's inspired and creative collection of international menus and recipes that will turn lunchtime into an event to look forward to.  You'll never settle for the same old peanut butter and jelly sandwich again!  Instead Jennifer will take you a noontime trip around the world through the culinary styles represented in these creative animal-free recipes.

Not just recipes, Jennifer presents tons of lunchtime menus made from the recipes in the book (in case you don't want to take the time to meal plan on your own).  Each balanced menu includes whole grains, protein, fruit, vegetables, a significant amount of calcium, and dessert (who doesn't love dessert).  Pack the menu into a lunchbox and your family will have a complete healthy and wholesome meal come the lunch hour.

While you'll find tons of kid friendly fare, the recipes are sophisticated enough to appeal to food savvy adults too.

The menus are broken down by their recipes' countries and regions of origin.  Creative brown baggers could even turn lunchtime into a tasty geography and social studies lesson.

Lunchtime Menu Chapters Include:
The United States (including lots of US regional inspired menus celebrating American flavors from California to New Orleans to New England and everywhere in between); Canada; Mexico; Central and South America; The Caribbean; Western Europe; Central and Eastern Europe; the Middle East; India; Africa; Asia; Australia; and Japan (of course the home of the Bento Box would be represented here).

Recipe chapters include: Appetizers and Snacks; Dips, Sauces and Spreads; Garnishes; Salads and Dressings; Sandwiches and Wraps; Soups and Stews; Mains; Bean Sides; Grain Sides; Vegetable Sides; Breads and Muffins; Desserts; Beverages.
