Review: This book came out at a perfect time, when everyone is tightening their belts and generally eating out less often. Author Charles Mattocks provides a wide variety of frugal meal ideas so you and your family will never feel bored or deprived while saving money on your weekly grocery budget.

Mattocks' use of seasonings and ethnic cooking styles set these wholesome recipes apart from the typical quick and easy family fare that fill these types of books.  Even though you won't be spending a lot of money, you'll still have a special an tempting meal to come home to.

Each recipe is coded with a price point: under $5.00 for 4 servings; under $7.00 for 4 servings; or under $7.00 for 2 servings.  This price presupposes a well stocked pantry, so depending on the current inventory of yours you may or may not end up spending a bit more.  Nonetheless, these are meals that can be made relatively inexpensively even if you do end up going over the prescribed price point.

Chapters include: Celebrating the Poor Chef in All of Us; Poultry with Pizzazz; Beef with Bravado; Practical Pork; Other Marvelous Meats; Pasta prodigies; Fabulous Fish; Sensational Seafood; Excellent Eggs; Scrumptious Salads; Versatile and Vegetarian; Savory Soups and Sandwiches; Dazzling Healthy Desserts.
