Sorbet in a Slice

This recipe comes to us from the folks at Dreyer's Ice Cream. Did you know that you can tour the Dreyer's plant in Union City, California and learn how ice cream was made? Follow this link to read all about it!

This is a refreshing recipe that's also practically fat free! You can use store bought sorbet or check out our dessert section for a selection of recipes to make your own.

Serves 4

4 whole fresh fruit: your choice of oranges, lemons, apples, peaches or nectarines
1 pint of whole fruit sorbet, any flavor
1/3 cup frozen fruit drink concentrate such as raspberry, strawberry lemonade, etc., melted
fresh mint sprigs for garnish
Dessert

Make the fresh fruit into a "cup," slice about 1 quarter of the way down and scooping out the center. Leave the shell of an orange or lemon intact, and leave a 1/4 inch edge around a peach or apple. Fill the cavity with sorbet. Either serve immediately or freeze.

Presentation
Place a sorbet filled fruit on a dessert plate. Drizzle melted fruit juice concentrate on plate and around fruit as sauce. Garnish with a mint sprig.
