Ingredients
- 1 pound butter
- 1 pound (4 cups) sifted cake flour
- 10 eggs, separated
- 1 pound (2 cups) sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Directions
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.
- Grease and flour 2 loaf pans.
- Beat egg whites until stiff peaks form, set aside.
- Cream butter until fluffy. Mix in flour until mixture is mealy. Set aside.
- Beat egg yolks, sugar and vanilla until thick and fluffy. Mix in butter and flour mixture gradually, beating thoroughly.
- Fold in beaten egg whites and beat for 3-5 minutes.
- Pour batter into prepared pans and bake for about 1 1/4 hours or until tops are golden brown and cake tester comes out clean.
