This recipe comes to us from chef Dario Marquez of Fort Lauderdale, Florida's Mistral. Follow this link to learn more about Dario and Mistral and to get more of his wonderful recipes!

4 cups red wine (preferably a Burgundy or Pinot Noir)
4 ounces brandy
2 T brown sugar
1 oz. lemon juice
1 cup orange juice
3 to 4 whole cloves
8 to 10 whole peppercorns
5 whole cinnamon sticks

In a four-quart saucepan, combine all ingredients except the wine. Bring to a boil and cook for about 10 minutes. Reduce by half. Lower heat and add the wine. Simmer for 10 to 15 minutes. Do not boil a second time. Strain through a fine sieve. Serve hot and garnish with a cinnamon stick.
