Author Notes: IMPORTANT! THIS DRINK IS NOT FOR HUMAN OR ANIMAL CONSUMPTION! DO NOT USE IF YOUR CHILDREN OR PETS CAN GET AT THE CHRISTMAS TREE WATER!

That said, use this "drink" to keep Christmas trees fresher, longer. The recipe makes one gallon, store the excess to replenish your tree's water as needed.

Ingredients: 2 cups corn syrup
4 teaspoons bleach
1 gallon water
Instructions: Cut approximately 1 inch off the bottom of your live Christmas tree. Hammer the end of the trunk to split or smash it. In a 1 gallon container, mix corn syrup and bleach and fill with hot water. Cool and give to tree in place of plain water to keep your tree fresher and to avoid needles falling off.
