| Author Notes: | Recreating this two-tone Trader Vic's specialty at home is surprisingly easy. It's made in two parts, and the trick is to blend the bottom layer quickly but the top layer thoroughly, so that it floats. |
| Ingredients: |
Bottom Layer: 1 ounce silver rum 1 ounce orange juice 1 ounce lemon juice 1/2 ounce brandy 1/2 ounce orgeat syrup 1/2 cup crushed ice Top Layer: 1 ounce gold rum 1 ounce grenadine 1 cup crushed ice |
| Instructions: |
Serve in a Molokai Mike Glass or a Double Old-Fashioned Glass Combine the silver rum, orange juice, lemon juice, brandy, orgeat syrup and 1/2 cup crushed ice in an electric blender and pulse for 1 to 2 seconds, just until blended. Pour into the glass. Combine the gold rum, grenadine, and 1 cup crushed ice in the blender and blend until smooth, about 15 seconds. Gently pour over the mixture in the glass. |
