Author Notes:

Time and/or budget conscious cooks will love this unique collection of recipes using that supermarket and convenience store staple -- ramen noodles. Author Toni Patrick takes this simple food to creative new heights -- it's not just for soup anymore (although, to be sure, you'll find creative soup recipes here too).

This is not gourmet food, but rather quick, easy and hearty meals that kids and adults will like. There are 101 thrifty recipes in all.

Ingredients: 2 packages chicken ramen noodles, any flavor, with seasoning packets
2 teaspoons sesame oil
3 tablespoons lemon juice
1/3 cup vegetable oil
2 teaspoons sugar
1 cup halved red and green seedless grapes
1/2 cup diced red and/or green apple
1/2 cup diced pineapple chunks
3 tablespoons chopped green onion
8 ounces smoked turkey breast, cut into strips
1/4 cup walnut pieces
Instructions:

Cook noodles in water according to package directions and drain. Rinse with cold water. Add sesame oil and refrigerate.

For dressing, combine lemon juice, vegetable oil, seasoning packets, and sugar. Pour over noodles then add remaining ingredients. Toss to coat.
