Author Notes: This is the recipe for classic, creamy cole slaw. Since this versatile salad goes with so many dishes, it's a good one to have in your repertoire.  if you have a food processor to shred the vegetables, this recipe goes together in nothing flat.
Ingredients: 1 large head of green cabbage, finely shredded
1/4 head red cabbage, finely shredded
2 large carrots, finely shredded
3/4 cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon sugar
2 tablespoons white wine or rice vinegar
1/3 cup vegetable or canola oil
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
1/2 teaspoon celery salt
1/3 cup buttermilk
salt pepper to taste
Instructions: Mix together mayonnaise, sugar, vinegar and oil. Add onion powder, mustard, celery salt, pepper, buttermilk and salt and pepper. Pour over shredded vegetables in a large bowl. Toss until well coated. Let chill for a few hours before serving.
