Author Notes:

Time and/or budget conscious cooks will love this unique collection of recipes using that supermarket and convenience store staple -- ramen noodles. Author Toni Patrick takes this simple food to creative new heights -- it's not just for soup anymore (although, to be sure, you'll find creative soup recipes here too).

This is not gourmet food, but rather quick, easy and hearty meals that kids and adults will like. There are 101 thrifty recipes in all.

Ingredients: 1/2 pound ground beef
1 package beef ramen noodles, with seasoning packet
1 cup grated Cheddar cheese
1 tomato, diced (optional)
Instructions: In a frying pan, brown and drain beef. Season to taste with 1/2 of the seasoning packet.

Cook noodles in water according to package directions and drain. Add beef and cheese to noodles and stir until cheese is melted. Add tomatoes, if desired.
