Author Notes: This book contains a fabulous collection of retro recipes for everything from snacks, sandwiches and desserts to blue plate specials.
Ingredients: 1 egg
2 tablespoons water
1 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon coarsely ground pepper
1/4 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup oil
1 to 1 1/2 pound lean round steak, cut into 4 pieces

Gravy:
2 heaping tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 cups milk
Instructions: 1. Beat together egg and water.

Mix together salt, pepper, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, and flour.

3.
Heat oil in a heavy fry pan over medium-high heat.

4.
Dip steak pieces into seasoned flour mixture, then egg mixture, then repeat.

5.
Brown steak on both sides.

6.
Turn down heat, cover, and cook on low heat 20-30 minutes.

Make Gravy

1.
Remove meat to a platter.

2.
Mix 2 heaping tablespoons flour with 2 cups milk.

3.
Stir flour mixture into meat drippings and continue stirring until Gravy comes to a boil.

4.
Stir constantly and cook for 1 minute. Remove from heat and serve.
