Servings: 4
Author Notes: Apples and pears make a great combo in these turnovers, but you could just as easily use all apples. All pears is not my favorite, but I'm not generally a huge pear fan. Try it you may like it.
Ingredients: 1 sheet frozen puff pastry dough
2 baking medium baking apples (most any variety with the exception of Macintosh will do)
2 medium sized pears
2 teaspoons butter
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon allspice
1 egg
Instructions: Pre-heat oven to 375°F. Peel, core and slice the apples and pears. Mix sugar and spices together. Mix sliced apples and pears. Pour sugar mixture over fruit and stir until well mixed and coated. Beat egg. Set aside.

Follow package directions for thawing and rolling dough. Roll one sheet of puff pastry dough into a large square. Cut square into four smaller squares. Put 1/4 fruit mixture in center of a square, but 1/4 the butter on piece and fold the dough over to form a triangle. Pinch edges closed (hint: you can use little water to help stubborn dough edges to stick together). Place turnovers on a greased baking sheet. Brush with beaten egg and bake for about 30 minutes or until nicely browned.
