Author Notes: White Chocolate candy melts make gourmet treats for all your fine furry friends this holiday season. Just melt and dip. All the dogs on your list will love them.

Important Note: Use only white chocolate, real chocolate is toxic to dogs!

Ingredients:

1 pound white chocolate candy melts

bone shaped dog biscuits, such as Milk Bones, or bake your own

jimmies, sprinkles edible decorations (optional)

melted white chocolate tinted* (optional, we used red and green on the center biscuit in the photo)

Instructions:

Makes about 4 dozen small biscuits

Melt candy melts in microwave, double boiler or oven set on lowest temperature.

dog biscuit recipesDip each biscuit halfway in the melted white chocolate. Use a spoon to help you get coverage, if necessary. Set on waxed paper to dry.

Before the chocolate sets, sprinkle with colored jimmies, if desired. Alternatively, you can color some of the melted white chocolate and drizzle it decoratively over the biscuits.

* To tint chocolate or candy melts do not use regular food colorings (both liquid and paste) -- they will cause the candy to "seize" and get grainy. Use only special powder or gel candy colors.

Thank you very much for the info! I tried the yogurt dip..but it never "hardened". It stayed kinda sticky, which is not what I was hoping for. I want one that will harden. I went out and bought the white chips and dipped(without sprinkles) a few dozen doggy donuts I made. Haven' checked em yet. Looks like I'm off to Michael's!! THANKS!! :-)

I'm sure Wilton makes candy coloring.  If you go to where they sell and cake and candy making supllies, they should have it.  If you're in a large town, there will probably be a shop or two that sells the stuff, otherwise, try a large craft store such as Michael's or JoAnn's.  Make sure it's candy color, as regular food color (liquid or gel) won't work with the candy melts.

Hi there, You mention special powder or gel candy colours to dye the dip, but what exactly do you mean? Any particular brands I can look for? Thanks! :-)
