Note
from Cheri:
The right cranberry sauce or relish is like an exclamation point
to the Thanksgiving meal - adding emphasis and a bit of surprise
and complexity to the structure of the meal itself.
Like stuffings, you can really get creative with cranberry sauces.
Try adding bits of fruit or nuts or even neutral vegetables like
celery or even jicama for crunch.
Some of the folks at the meal might still insist on the jellied
stuff from a can, but in addition, why not try something new this
year? It might be just the element of surprise to put your feast
into a whole new league.
For a lot of people, it's just not officially Thanksgiving without
a relish tray. Try setting out a variety of olives and marinated
or pickled vegetables and watch them disappear.
