Note
from Cheri:
Desserts are the crowning glory to the holiday meal. Pumpkin Pie
is the traditional favorite, but in my family, we never stopped
there. As far as desserts go, my childhood Thanksgivings meant one
thing - pie and lots of it!
My mother would bake a minimum of five varieties of pies, often
more. Pumpkin and apple were always well represented, as were pecan
and lemon meringue. My mother would then make a few more varieties
for good measure. Depending on her mood, there might be mincemeat
or butterscotch, chocolate or banana cream or any number of others.
While Mom always stuck to pies, I've branched out a bit and often
include a special cake on the Thanksgiving dessert buffet. But like
Mom, I still make way too many desserts. Nobody ever seems to really
mind though.
