Author Notes: A few items from the stationary aisle of the local drug store can make decorating Easter Eggs easy. In the photo below, we used adhesive re-inforcements for 3 ring notebook paper. We've also had good luck with small star stickers, the kind that kids get pasted on their foreheads of they get an A on their spelling test and circular adhesive price tags.
Supplies: hard boiled eggs
basic egg dyes in desired shades
masking tape or stickers in desired shapes
Instructions:

For the egg in the photo, we put the stickers on a plain white egg, then dyed it green. You could also put a base color on the egg, let it dry completely, then add stickers and re-color. Another idea is to have multi-colored designs. To accomplish this, peel off a few more stickers with each new color you add to the egg (I find that after 3 colors, it all starts to get muddy, however).

Some hints for using tape or stickers

  • make sure stickers are firmly attached, but don't press so hard you crack the egg -- I know this sounds obvious, but I managed to break one
  • make sure the eggs are COMPLETELY dry before removing stickers or the colors will run
  • the longer the egg soaks, the greater your chances of the sticker lifting, and if the sticker lifts during coloring, the finished egg won't look good
