| Author Notes: | This cute gift tag is made from a rubber stamped image layered on top of various sized squares -- the finished tag is definitely greater than its simple individual parts. |
| Supplies: |
paper scraps in yellow, green, red, and white
square shape cutter tool (we used Fiskars
Shape Cutter with the Squares template) |
| Instructions: |
Step 1. We used the Fiskars Shape Cutter with the Squares template to cut our papers. You can make your tag any size you like. For the tag in the photo, the outer yellow layer measures 3 1/2 inches square. The inner green mat measures 2 1/2 inches square, and the center white paper measures 1 3/4 inches square. The cut out red square has an inner dimension of 2 1/2 inches, and an outer dimension of 3 inches. It may seem like a lot of cutting, but with a tool like the Shape Cutter, it's a snap. Step 2. Using dark green ink, stamp the candy cane on the white card stock Step 3. Use a red gel pen or felt tipped marker to color in the bow on the candy cane stamp. Step 4. Use a metallic gold gel pen to make small "stitch" marks around the edges of the white square. Step 5. Apply a thin layer of adhesive from a glue stick or spray adhesive to the back of all the paper elements except the large yellow square (you can alternatively run the pieces through an adhesive machine like those made by Xyron). Step 6. Using the photo above as a guide, glue down the squares. Step 7. Use a round hole punch to punch a hole in the center top edge of the tag. Thread a narrow red paper strip through the hole in order to attach it to the gift. |
