| Author Notes: |
As long as you have a sewing machine, they are simple, inexpensive and take almost no time to make. Cloth napkins are easy on the environment and are really very little trouble -- you just toss them in the wash with the rest of the laundry. We have tons of them at home that we've made in all kinds of fabrics. Making lots insures you never run out. |
| Supplies: |
1 yard fabric per 4 napkins
sewing machine, needles and thread scissors |
| Instructions: |
The napkins in the picture are 17 inches square. Cut out your squares and serge the edges or turn raw edges under and sew a line of straight stitching. These can be plain -- like the ones in the photo -- for everyday; or you can dress them up with appliqués, machine embroidery or maybe make them double sided with another fabric. Use your imagination and see what you come up with. Serger techniques abound. Whatever your taste or lifestyle, you can have loads of napkins for a touch of class!
