I applaud publisher Wiley for putting out this wonderful low carb cookbook at a time when the rest of the world seems to think that the low carb way of eating is over. Of course, we know it's not, but for a corporation to buck the mass media hysteria is worthy of praise. Bravo Wiley for giving low carbers a great new book and bravo Jan McCracken for doing such a fabulous job at putting together one of the best healthy low carb cookbooks ever.
Jan's recipes have always been delicious and innovative (check out her Low Carb Christmas feature at this website), and she's in top form here with lots of delicious recipes, many under 5 net carbs per serving! In addition to recipes, there is a lot of invaluable instructional information here about living a healthy low carb lifestyle, the low carb kitchen and low carb cooking techniques, raising your total carb awareness, shopping for low carb cooking, and the role of exercise in a healthy carb lifestyle. Recipe categories include Breakfast and Brunch; Soups and Stews; Salads and Dressings; Wraps; Fish and Seafood; Beef, Lamb and Pork; Poultry; Meatless Main Dishes; Vegetables and Side Dishes; Appetizers, Snacks, and Dips; Desserts. Like all the Dummies books, this one is well organized making it easy to go right to the exact information or recipe you need at any given moment. Anyone serious about living a low carb lifestyle needs to have this book in their library. It will help you add lots of variety to your menus, and even seasoned low carbers will learn valuable new tips and low carb techniques. |
