You can become a chocolate expert by reading this book, and who better to learn from than John Scharffenberger and Robert Steinberg, the men behind some of the world's finest gourmet chocolate, Scharffenberger.
This collection includes more than 100 recipes, many contributed by some of the world's finest chefs, show off chocolate in all of its glory. Some of the recipes are complex, some simple, but all highlight character and flavor of fine chocolate. Favorite standard chocolate recipes like the ultimate chocolate cake, brownies and even Chocolate Chunk Cookies (see below) are well represented. But there are also lots of creative and unusual chocolate recipes, like the Baked Hot Chocolate (again, see below), spiced drinking chocolate and even a wonderful chocolate liqueur.
But this book is more than a high quality chocolate cookbook, it's also practically a doctoral thesis on its subject, including history, production from tree to shop, health benefits and nutrition, and more. It's well written, beautifully produced and filled with full color photos. This book - as at home on a coffee table as it is in the kitchen -- would make a fabulous gift for anyone who's seriously into chocolate.
