Author Notes: This gift tag is the perfect package adornment for anyone who loves spicy foods. The color combination makes it perfect for Christmas, but you can use this gift tag all year long.

For the rest of the wrapping, pair this tag with our Chili Lover's Gift Wrap.

Supplies: paper scraps in green, yellow, red, and beige

chili pepper rubber stamp (ours is from Creative Expressions)
black rubber stamping ink
black embossing powder
embossing heat tool
gel pens or felt tipped markers for coloring the stamped image
lace design border punch (Fiskars)
adhesives (we used a Xyron adhesive machine, you could also use spray adhesives or glue stocks or adhesive runners)
round hole punch

Instructions:

Step 1. Cut a long narrow piece of green card stock -- ours measures 6 inches by 2 1/2.

Step 2. Fold the paper in half width-wise.

Step 3. Cut the top border pieces from red and beige paper scraps using Fiskar's Lacy Border Punch. The border strips were made by using "negative" punch, " or the part of the paper that's punched away when you make the lace. Save the lace side for another use.

Step 4. Apply a thin layer of adhesive from a glue stick to the backs of the border strips (you can alternatively run them through an adhesive machine like the Xyron machine). Glue the two border strips to the top of the tag, facing each other as in the photo.

Step 5. Using black ink, stamp the chili peppers on yellow card stock Cover with black embossing powder, shake off the excess and use the embossing heat tool to set the powder. Click here for more details in our embossing technique tutorial.

Step 6. Use gel pens or felt tipped markers to color in the chili peppers. We used several shades of red and pink to give our peppers more details, but you could also use a single shade of red.

Step 7. Carefully cut around the chili peppers, leaving about a 1/4 inch border of yellow card stock all the way around.

Step 8. Apply a thin coating of spray adhesive to the back of the chili peppers (you can alternatively run this piece of paper through an adhesive machine like the Xyron machine or use a glue stick). Center the chili peppers over the green area of the tag and glue down.

Step 9. Use a round hole punch to punch a hole in the center top edge of the tag (through all layers). Thread a narrow red paper strip through the hole in order to attach it to the gift.
