Author Notes:

The frozen banana in this shake creates an ice cream-like consistency. The walnuts get so finely ground by the blender that you don't even know they're in there...until you taste it! It's so yummy!

Did you know that walnuts are one of the healthiest foods you can eat?  Walnuts are the only nut that contain a significant amount of omega-3 fatty acids. No other nut even comes close.  Eating a handful of walnuts every day is one small step you can take to protect your heart.  The U.S. Food and Drug Administration even approved a qualified health claim for walnuts, the first ever for a whole food.

Ingredients: 1 small very ripe banana, frozen
1/2 cup vanilla low-fat yogurt
1/4 cup chopped California walnuts
1-2 tablespoons honey
Instructions:

Place banana, yogurt, walnuts, and 1 tablespoon honey in a blender. Blend on low speed until ingredients start to mix together. Then increase to high speed and blend until smooth. For a sweeter smoothie, add another tablespoon of honey. Serve immediately.

Note: To make a frozen banana, peel and cut the banana into chunks. Wrap in plastic and place in freezer several hours or overnight.
