Review: Williams Sonoma, known for their upscale kitchenware shops, now offers busy cooks a fabulous new series of cookbooks - Food Made Fast. Every book in this well produced series contains recipes for tasty, wholesome, foods that can be prepared in a flash.

Everything in these books is designed to help you cook more efficiently and make the most out of the limited time you spend in the kitchen. Each recipe can be made in three steps or less with a handful of easy to find ingredients. There are also tips for efficient shopping, menu planning and tips and instructions for "Cooking Smarter."

Each and every recipe is accompanied by beautiful full color photographs and tips for diverse subjects such as using leftover, prepping ahead, special techniques, substitutions and variations and more.

The recipes are an eclectic collection including appetizers, salads, main courses, and side dishes. In order to plan your cooking based on the amount of time you have to spend in the kitchen, the books in this series are organized in a unique format. Rather than dividing recipe by categories like appetizers, main courses, soups, salads, etc.; these recipes organized by:

* 30 Minutes Start to Finish
* 15 Minutes Hands-On Time

This particular volume has a third section of recipes entitled "Make More to Store," that we especially liked. I have grilled like this for years and am happy to see the concept getting coverage from Williams Sonoma. The concept is simple - if you've got the grill fire going, you might as well use it and cook extra food for upcoming meals. In this section there are three basic quick to fix grill recipes - one for beef, one for chicken and one for vegetables, then a variety of recipes you can make using those grilled foods. So while you're grilling one meal, you can also get two or three other dinners ready at the same time. It's hard to beat that for time saving.
