Fabulous Foods' contributing editor Bob Carter has done an exceptional job with this book and its Northern California counterpart. If you like to eat or cook, or are just a weekend warrior looking for something to do in the Golden State, you need these guides! Festivals from apples to zucchini (and everything in between) are covered. Along with what to expect at the festival and practical information, each entry includes recipes highlighting that particular food. There's over forty festivals in each book!

Regardless of your dining taste, you are bound to find something of interest. Small town "homey" festivals like Castroville's Artichoke Festival and Morgan Hill's Mushroom Mardi Gras, are featured along side those offering gourmet fare like Marin County's A La Carte and the Taste Of Ventura County.

Each book also contains a listing of local farmer's markets, a listing of other festivals of note and a festival calendar for travel planning. Whether for yourself, a for a gift, these books should be in every Californian's collection.
