I've been fan of Dr. Steven Gullo for years, since reading his earlier book Thin Tastes Better. One line from that book has resonated in my brain all these years: "You've come too far in life to take orders from a cookie."
The line is emblematic of how Dr. Gullo addresses the number one problem facing all dieters - falling off the wagon. Sure there's a sensible diet plan included with this book, but that's not its strength. What makes this book so valuable is the practical advice and doable techniques Gullo gives for dealing with the pitfalls of dieting. You'll learn how not to let a small slip up turn into a disaster, how to stop a binge before it happens, minimize damage if it does, and address the triggers and foods that cause you to be fat. So whether you opt to follow Gullo's eating plan or your own (or some other diet that works for you like Atkins or Weight Watcher, or whatever), I still highly recommend this book as it will help you be successful with any eating regimen you decide to follow. The techniques are practical and culled from years of Gullo's work helping patients to lose weight and maintain those losses. If you do need a diet plan, there's a healthy plan here emphasizing low fat and healthy carbs with lots of fresh fruits and vegetables and whole grains. For those who have just a few pounds to lose or who are looking to jump start a longer term weight loss plan, a 10-day turbo charge diet will do the trick. Simple eating plans and guidelines make this an easy diet to follow and recipe chapters show you just how simple it is to prepare healthy tasty fare. Anyone trying to lose weight will benefit from the wisdom on these pages and putting these simple ten techniques into practice will automatically create a slimmer, healthier you. You'll learn how to identify your trigger foods and how to defeat them, which carbs promote weight loss, essential tricks for stretching your calorie budget and the 24 hour secret which will prevent you from ever overeating again.
