Are you having a hard time getting your kids to eat healthy, wholesome fare? Here's an idea, teach them to make it themselves.
Mollie Katzen's (The Moosewood Cookbook, The Enchanted Broccoli Forest) cookbook for kids ages 8 and older can inspire a lifelong interest and love of cooking and food as well as provide some excellent opportunities for bonding between adult and child. The 65 recipes are kid tested and kid appealing, but make no mistake, they are also healthy, vegetarian fare that you'll be happy to se your kids gobbling up. Kids will delight in offerings like Lasagna, "Not From a Box" Macaroni and Cheese, Gingerbread French Toast, or the World's Greatest Peanut Butter. Molly's whimsical illustrations provide step by step instructions that are so clear, anyone can follow them, even if they've never cooked before. There are extra notes for grownups too, including cooking hints and safety tips. While the book was meant to appeal to kids, the recipes here are so good, Mom might even get a bit of a break from the kitchen, once junior gets the hang of it. Now if only there was a book that taught them how to do the dishes.. |
