Halloween finger foods
Don't lose your head this Halloween, serve these fingers!
There's something about October 31 that turns everyone into a would-be cannibal or, at least, the closest thing to it. Take advantage of this fact by serving these little finger foods that really look like fingers. They're absolutely great at a Halloween party because they're delicious (which is important at any party) and because they really look like fingers.
Gross! But then again, it is Halloween.
Chicken fingers are the obvious choice for finger-related foods because of their name. However, not just any chicken finger will do. To make these chicken fingers, first slice a chicken breast into four to six strips about the width of your finger. In the middle of the finger, make few shallow incisions about where the knuckle would be and again where the joint near the tip of your finger is. Dust these incisions with cocoa powder.
Bake the chicken fingers for 15 minutes in a 350 degree F oven. Then put a drop of mayonnaise near the end of the finger and place a sliced almond on the mayonnaise (this will be the fingernail). Bake the chicken another 5 minutes and serve with ketchup.
Puff pastry fingers
To make these fingers, preheat your oven to the temperature on the puff pastry package. Cut the puff into strips about the width of your finger and make several incisions similar to those you would make for the chicken fingers. Brush the entire puff pastry with egg wash (a mixture of one egg and 1 tablespoon of water) and sprinkle cumin in the incisions. Cut a small square of turkey to make the nail and bake according to the package directions.
These fingers are the coolest finger because they'll actually be stuffed with blood, or in this case, pizza sauce. Simply find a pizza crust mix and roll it out. Cut the crust into sections twice the width of a finger and spread the sauce and a little cheese (pus) around the crust. Fold the pizza crust over to make a finger and cut out a little section for a bloody fingernail.
Bake according to the crust directions and serve with marinara for extra blood.
