Love pumpkin pie? It’s a holiday classic that appears on scores of family tables for Thanksgiving and Christmas. If you haven’t made it from scratch before though, fear not. It’s super easy to make at home, and tastes fantastic. Your family won’t be disappointed to dig into this pie.

Better yet, this homemade pumpkin pie really doesn’t take long to make. It takes just minutes to assemble with a few simple ingredients and bakes for about an hour. Let it cool before serving. And, when you serve it, be sure to include a big dollop of homemade whipped cream.

Homemade Pumpkin Pie

Serves 6 to 8

  • 3 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1, 15-ounce can pumpkin purée
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 unbaked deep dish 9-inch pie shell

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine the eggs, pumpkin purée, heavy cream, brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and salt; beat for 2 minutes.
  3. Pour the pumpkin mixture into the deep dish pie shell, set on a baking sheet. Slide into the oven and bake for 50 to 60 minutes. When done, the crust will be lightly browned and a knife inserted into the center of the pie comes out cleanly.
  4. Remove from oven and allow the pie to fully cool on a wire rack. Serve with whipped cream.
  5. Store leftovers in the refrigerator.

Homemade Whipped Cream

Serves 6 to 8

  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon confectioners' sugar

  1. Add the heavy cream to a chilled bowl. Using a hand mixer, beat until peaks are just about to form; stir in the vanilla and confectioners' sugar and beat until stiff peaks form; be careful not to over beat.
  2. Chill until ready to serve.
